Peralta House, 34th & Paxton Avenues, Oakland, c.
Antonio Peralta built this house, situated on part of the 44,800-acre Spanish land grant made to his father, Sergeant Luís María Peralta (1759-1851), by the last Spanish governor in 1820 in recognition of his forty years of military service to the Spanish king. The land includes most of present-day Alameda County. In 1842 Don Peralta divided his land among his four sons, and most of Oakland now lies within the shares given to Antonio, Maria and Vicente Peralta. original from National Archives
